Sacraments are visible signs instituted by Jesus Christ, administered through the Church so that we may experience God’s presence. In celebrating the sacraments, we not only meet God but also experience communion with one another and the unity of the Church. It is a celebration of our faith and the pursuit of the knowledge of God’s mystery. Christian life is impossible without the active and diligent reception of the sacraments.
Baptism
To baptize a child, you must visit the church sacristy during the priest’s duty hours with the child’s identity document to arrange a reserved date and time for the Sacrament of Baptism. Adults wishing to receive the Sacrament of Baptism should consult the priest on duty in the sacristy, who will provide information regarding the further steps.
Confirmation
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation takes place each year from October to June. Registration begins in September and is announced in the church and on the website www.ausrosvartai.lt. Registration is conducted by the person appointed by the Parish Priest.
Eucharist
Preparation for the Sacraments of the Eucharist (First Holy Communion) and Penance takes place each year from October to June. Registration begins in September and is announced in the church and on the website www.ausrosvartai.lt. Registration is conducted by the person appointed by the Parish Priest.
Penance (Confession)
Confessions are heard before Holy Mass or by personal appointment with a priest.
Matrimony
For the Sacrament of Matrimony, engaged couples must contact the priest on duty in the sacristy at least 5 months prior to the intended wedding date. For the first meeting with the priest, you must have a passport or an identity card.
Holy Orders (Priesthood)
Young men who wish to become priests should contact a priest serving in the parish.
Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is administered to the seriously ill living within the parish territory upon their request. Relatives should coordinate the reception of the sacrament with the priest on duty in the sacristy in advance.
Sacramentals are signs instituted by the Church through which spiritual graces are bestowed, human life is sanctified, and the faithful are prepared to receive the signs given by God—the sacraments. Sacramentals—the prayers of the clergy and the laity—are accompanied by the sign of the cross, the laying on of hands, and the sprinkling of holy water as a reminder of Baptism. In this way, food, specific places, objects, and signs of Christian piety are blessed and sanctified.
Funerals
The priests serving in the Parish of St. Teresa accompany the deceased who resided in this parish to the cemetery upon the request of their relatives. Arrangements for this service should be made with the priests on duty in the sacristy.
Blessing of Homes
Those who wish to invite a priest to their home are welcome to contact the parish priests.
Blessings and Sanctifications
Those wishing to have an object or a person blessed are invited to contact the parish priests.
